Job SummaryWe are seeking a Natural Areas / Vegetation Management Supervisor to lead field crews performing vegetation control, invasive species removal, and natural area maintenance.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both field experience and the ability to manage crews while meeting municipal standards.
During slower seasons or weather-dependent downtime, this role will also support high-end landscape maintenance and enhancement work, including planting, garden care, and property beautification, and more.
Main Responsibilities- Supervise and lead vegetation management crews in the field
- Plan, coordinate, and execute daily work activities
- Oversee brushing, invasive species removal, and restoration work
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental regulations, and municipal requirements
- Train and mentor crew members
- Maintain records and provide documentation to clients
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard
Secondary (Seasonal / Supplemental Work)- Maintain and enhance high-end residential and commercial properties
- Perform tasks such as weeding, planting, watering, and general garden care
- Assist with planter bed design and installation
- Select and source trees, shrubs, and plants for projects
- Contribute to overall property beautification and upkeep
- Support additional work such as paving stones, retaining walls, and other landscape projects (training provided)

- Interest in developing skills in landscaping, hardscaping (paving stones, retaining walls), decks, tree relocation and more
- Ability to pass a City-required invasive species test (required)
- Positive, flexible attitude and strong work ethic
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Qualifications (Municipal Requirement)All candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways and be able to provide documentation upon request:
Option 1- Completion of Grade 12
- Plus five (5) relevant post-secondary courses from an approved institution in one or more of the following areas:
- Biology
- Urban Land Management
- Ecology
- Conservation
- Wildlife Management
- Plus a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in the management of natural areas
Option 2- Completion of Grade 12
- Plus a relevant Technical Certificate Program (minimum 1 year full-time) from an approved post-secondary institution
- Plus at least 18 months of recent experience in the management of natural areas
Option 3- Completion of a relevant diploma (2-year) or degree program from an approved post-secondary institution
- Plus a minimum of 6 months of recent experience in the management of natural areas
Assets- Knowledge of invasive species control and vegetation management practices
- Ability to pass the cities written test on invasive species. (You will be presented multiple photos of invasive and native plants and you have to identify in Latin or english/common, and identify whether it's invasive or native. )
- Experience leading outdoor or environmental crews
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license (prefered, not required)
