Project: Interrupting the Cycle (Black male survivors criminalized after self-defense or surviving violence)
Location: Remote (Ontario-based preferred)
Status: Independent contractor (casual, paid per hour)

Navigator (1 position)Responsibilities:- Answer helpline calls/emails (Thurs & Fri, 9am–5pm ET)
- Complete intake forms and provide plain-language legal information
- Make referrals to legal aid, mental health, and community services
- Log calls/online intake and submit monthly reports
Requirements:- Background in social work, community legal work, or crisis support
- Knowledge of Ontario’s criminal justice system and legal resources
- Trauma-informed communication skills
- Access to reliable internet and phone
- Legal Navigation Experience
Peer Mentor (2 positions)Responsibilities:- Provide emotional support and encouragement to mentees (weekly check-ins)
- Share lived experience appropriately (not as therapy or legal advice)
- Refer legal questions to navigator
- Log sessions and attend supervision
Requirements:- Self-identify as a Black man with lived experience of the justice system (as accused or survivor)
- Ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality
- Complete required paid 4-hour training
