Position OverviewThe City of Kamloops is seeking a skilled and motivated permanent, full-time Network Administrator to join our IT team. If you have a strong background in network administration, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, this position may be a great fit. Our Network Administrators are critical in ensuring the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of our network systems.
As a Network Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our network infrastructure. This includes managing our network hardware and software, monitoring network performance, and implementing necessary upgrades and patches. You will work closely with our IT Division to design and deploy network solutions that meet the evolving needs of the City of Kamloops.

- Completion of a Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree or an equivalent degree;
OR
Completion of a diploma in Computer Science or Computer Systems and a minimum eight years’ experience working in Information Technology and two years’ experience working in a full time Networking role or equivalent (for a total of ten years’ experience). - Current/Valid or recently expired Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certificate or equivalent certification.
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence.
- Minimum two years’ previous experience working full-time with Checkpoint Firewalls.
- Minimum two years’ previous experience working full-time with Cisco networking equipment.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a CUPE Local 900 position.
