requires a
NETWORK SUPPORT ENGINEER
LOCATION: Board Administration Office, Pembroke
SCHEDULE: 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week, 12 months per year
RATE OF PAY: $48.65- $49.43 per hour (Group 15)
POSITION SUMMARY: A key member of the IT Department, the Network Support Engineer is responsible for tasks related to networked hardware configurations across the organization both on and off-site and maintains/supports existing systems and provides second and third level support to technical staff. The Network Support Engineer also performs research, designs, tests and implements new systems or enhancements to existing systems.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school (Grade 12) graduation, plus a post-secondary program of over three and up to four years or equivalent in a related discipline is required. Over two years, up to and including four years of related experience. Current and applicable Azure/EntraID or Google Workspace management certification is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:- Strong technical knowledge of server hardware, software, operating systems, networking and peripherals in multi-user LAN/WAN environments.
- Maintain and continuously update an Azure and Google Workspace environment, ensuring secure, efficient, and up-to-date identity and access management across the organization.
- Co-ordinate installations, maintenance, upgrades and repairs of physical servers, virtual servers, server room infrastructure and storage area networks.
- Oversee the provision of network servers such as client connectivity, application configurations and user interface modifications.
- Supervise, co-ordinate, mentor and train IT staff.
- Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, initiative and enthusiasm in achieving results.
- Comprehensively use hardware and software technology for project and resource management.
- Strong documentation/time management skills.
- Sound interpersonal, communication and judgement skills.
- Valid Ontario Class G Drivers’ License; access to an insured vehicle for travel to district sites.
Hiring will follow the requirements outlined in the CUPE 1321 Collective Agreement and the RCDSB Administrative Procedures. Members of the bargaining unit will be given first consideration. The Board reserves the right not to fill a position.
