The OpportunityKeyano College’s Information Technology Services Department is currently seeking a Network & Systems Specialist to join our dynamic team.
Reporting to the Infrastructure Supervisor, the Network & Systems Specialist is responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and technical planning of the organization’s network, next-generation firewalls, web application firewalls (WAFs), and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services. This includes switches, wired, wireless, and virtual networks, as well as firewall platforms that support reliable, secure, and high-performance connectivity across on-premises and cloud environments.
Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Network & Systems Specialist configures, maintains, and optimizes the network environment, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, routing, segmentation, and traffic flow to support performance, resiliency, and secure access.
The role includes managing next-generation and web application firewall configurations, including rule and policy management, NAT, VPN connectivity, threat protection, and traffic analysis to enforce security controls and protect web-facing services.
PKI responsibilities include certificate lifecycle management, certificate-based authentication, and integration with network, firewall, wireless, VPN, and application services to help align connectivity, security controls, and identity services.
Additional responsibilities include supporting server, virtualization, and cloud platforms; contributing to cybersecurity monitoring, access controls, and incident response; and participating in backup and disaster recovery processes to maintain a stable and resilient IT environment.
Qualifications- Minimum two-year post-secondary diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- 4+ years of related experience in network, systems, firewall, or infrastructure administration roles
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher-level enterprise networking certification, such as:
- Aruba Certified Switching Professional (ACSP)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Fortinet Certified Professional (NSE 4) or higher certification, such as:
- Fortinet Certified Professional (NSE 5) - FortiManager Administrator
- Other certifications that would be considered an asset:
- Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- VMware Certified Professional - Datacenter Virtualization
- Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
