We are accepting applications for a summer Office Assistant in our Cobourg Office. This position will run for eight weeks, commencing in July and is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
In this position, you will play an important role in supporting the daily operations of the organization by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks. You will assist with the coordination of reception activities, coordinating with clinical staff, and maintaining office efficiency.
Your key responsibilities will include:- Assist with clerical duties at reception including filing and scanning of documents, process incoming and outgoing mail, stocking of materials, answering phones etc.
- Welcome and greet visitors in a friendly manner, checking clients in and communicating with clinical therapy staff.
- Assist with therapy set up and clean up, prepare therapy packages for families including cutting, printing and laminating of resource materials.
- Assist with organizing inventory of toys and games used for therapy, including purging unused or broken items.
- Provide support during the Centre’s programming including therapeutic recreation, client and family engagement, virtually and/or in the Centre or community recreation facilities.
What You Bring:- Completion of High School; preference given to a post-secondary student pursuing Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology or Therapeutic Recreation studies.
- Customer service experience and basic knowledge of Microsoft software applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Demonstrated ability in communication and creative problem-solving.
- Demonstrated keen interest in providing and promoting quality inclusive opportunities for children and youth with disabilities.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision with good judgement skills, and initiative.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to work within and utilize a family-centred approach in service delivery.
- A positive attitude and willingness to try new things.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Must provide clear Vulnerable Sector Check, dated within previous 12 months.
- Proof of updated immunizations including COVID-19 vaccination.
What We Offer:- $17.60/hour.
- 35-hour work week (Monday – Friday); may be required to work occasional evenings.

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs grant program. Applicants must meet all the following criteria:
- Be aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job;
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
- Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
International students and other temporary residents of Canada are not eligible.
