We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to join our team on a contract basis (12-14 months), supporting the delivery of fisheries monitoring programs that support sustainable and compliant marine fisheries worldwide. This role will be reviewed at the end of the term, with the potential to transition into a permanent position.

ABOUT THE ROLE:As the Operations Manager for the Fisheries Monitoring Services (FMS) division, you will support the delivery and performance of our monitoring programs, ensuring operational excellence, client satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational management in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead FMS operations end-to-end, including project delivery, quality assurance, systems, staffing, training, and client outcomes
- Drive execution of strategic priorities, supporting senior leadership and advancing corporate initiatives
- Own client and partner relationships, ensuring strong communication, satisfaction, and regulatory alignment
- Set direction and deliver continuous improvement, aligning operations with evolving industry and compliance requirements
- Oversee project delivery performance, supporting project managers to deliver on time, on budget, and to standard
- Optimize team performance and resourcing, including workforce planning, labour allocation, recruitment, and staff development
- Foster a high-performing team culture, through coaching, communication, and performance management
- Ensure operational excellence and compliance, maintaining safety, environmental, and regulatory standards across all activities
ABOUT YOU:You are a hands-on, detail-oriented leader with experience delivering programs and managing day-to-day operations. You balance technical understanding with strong team leadership and are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
Qualifications & Experience:- 5+ years of progressive experience in operational and project leadership, with a demonstrated ability to manage increasing levels of responsibility, complexity, and organizational impact.
- Strong project management experience, with a proven ability to prioritize competing demands and consistently deliver deadlines.
- Proven people leadership experience, including team management, coaching, and performance development.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field is considered an asset but not required.
- Experience managing complex or regulated programs or projects is considered an asset but not required.
Technical & Professional Skills:- Strong technical and operational understanding of complex programs or service delivery environments; experience in fisheries monitoring or environmental operations is considered an asset but not required.
- Strong financial and analytical capability, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Experience with data analysis and preparation of client-facing deliverables, with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and quality
- Ability to oversee senior-level review processes, ensuring completeness, consistency, and high standards across all outputs

WHAT ELSE?The position is based on a 37.5-hour work week – Monday to Friday with paid vacation days.

The anticipated salary range for this role will be $90,000+ driven by the experience a candidate brings to the position.
