Teaching Position - PE and Athletic Director
School District No. 10 – Arrow Lakes, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC, is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt, Sylix, Ktunaxa, and Secwepemc Peoples. We have the following continuing contract teaching opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year:
Position: PE 8-12 Teacher and Athletic Director
School: Nakusp Secondary School
FTE: 1.0 FTE Continuing Contract
Effective: September 1, 2026
Salary Range: $67,040 - $119,548

Assignment / ScheduleThis position is focused on teaching Grade 8-12 Physical Education and acting as the Athletic Director for the school. It also involves teaching electives or other courses.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills:- A valid Teaching Certificate from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch
- Successful secondary PE and Health Education teaching experience
- Major in Physical Education, Sport Science or Kinesiology at the university level
- Exemplary use of assessment for learning strategies that engage and foster learning
- Experience integrating First Peoples Principles of Learning into teaching practice
- Excellent classroom management skills and proven ability to engage all learners with the ability to differentiate for all learners
- Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning in the classroom and beyond
- Strong interpersonal skills. and strengths working in a team environment including experience in co-planning and co-teaching
- Commitment to implementing the School Growth Plan
- Commitment and expertise in building relationships with parents and community
- Embodiment of lifelong learning, and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth
- Willingness to participate in the school's extra-curricular programs will be an asset
