Job SummaryThe Family Support Worker is responsible for providing in-home and community-based support services to children, youth, and families. This position focuses on strengthening family wellbeing by supporting parenting skills, basic life skills development, healthy family routines, and connection to community resources and services.
The Family Support Worker works collaboratively with families to identify goals, provide practical support, and promote safe, healthy, and stable home environments. The role is prevention-focused and supports family preservation through early intervention, advocacy, mentorship, and culturally respectful service delivery.
Qualifications- Diploma or certificate in Human Services, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Community Support, or related field preferred
- Relevant experience working with children, youth, and families may be considered in lieu of formal education
- Knowledge of family support services, parenting supports, and community resources
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, traditions, and family wellness approaches is considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check required
Responsibilities- Provide in-home support services and mentorship to families
- Support parents and caregivers with parenting skills and child development strategies
- Assist families with basic life skills including budgeting, meal planning, household management, organization, and hygiene
- Help families identify goals and develop plans that support family stability and wellbeing
- Connect families with community resources, programs, and external services as required
- Advocate for families and support them in navigating systems and appointments
- Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and confidential client files
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and case planning
- Promote culturally relevant programming, traditional teachings, and community engagement opportunities
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Prevention Supervisor
Work EnvironmentWCTC CYFE is a Forward-Thinking Agency covering 2 First Nation Reserves in the area of Child Intervention and Prevention, delivering services to assist families in their respected communities.
