Production Support Engineer (Java, PL/SQL, Unix/Linux)
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid 4 days onsite). Pay Rate: $50/hour (Contract). Start Date: Estimated to be in 1st week of May 2026. Job ID: YBTAOP.
OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Production Support Engineer to support enterprise-grade applications within a banking/financial environment. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, hands-on scripting experience, and the ability to manage high-priority production incidents while ensuring system stability and SLA compliance.
MUST HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE- 6+ years of Application/Production Support experience in enterprise environments (banking/financial domain preferred)
- Strong expertise in:
- Java (for debugging and root cause analysis)
- PL/SQL (data validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution)
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages:
- Shell, Perl, or Python (for batch processing & automation)
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex application and database issues in:
- Unix/Linux environments
- Cloud-hosted systems
- Experience with monitoring & observability tools:
- Dynatrace, Splunk, ITRS (or similar)
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes, including:
- Incident, Problem, and Change Management
- Experience using ServiceNow (or equivalent ITSM tools)
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Lead production support activities
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Ensure high availability and SLA adherence
NICE TO HAVE- Experience with DevOps/SRE practices
- Familiarity with:
- Jenkins, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines
- Strong SQL tuning and database performance optimization skills
- Knowledge of APIs (REST/SOAP) and tools like Postman
- Exposure to Kafka and microservices architecture

Additional Requirements- Candidates must be local to Toronto
- Hybrid work model: 4 days onsite per week
