Food Banks Canada supports a national network of more than 5,500 food banks and community organizations through investment, advocacy, research, and solutions to food insecurity.
About the Role
The Program Officer, Grants supports a national capacity granting program and other program implementations and administration for provincial associations and affiliated food banks. This is a full-time, 12-month contract position that is remote and may be based anywhere in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Administer grants and applications through the SurveyMonkey Apply grant portal.
- Support program development, communications, implementation, evaluation, and improvement.
- Coordinate grant disbursements with Finance and ensure compliance with grant frameworks.
- Work with vendors and consultants on program elements, agreements, guidelines, and evaluation processes.
- Track contractual obligations, reporting data, timelines, and grant outcomes.
- Prepare program and donor reports, grant updates, and presentations.
- Coordinate working groups and grant review committees.
- Build relationships with food banks, provincial associations, and program partners; attend meetings and provide follow-up.
- Provide webinar training on grant opportunities and processes.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
- At least four years of nonprofit program management experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication, donor reporting, budgeting, analytical, problem-solving, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; grant software and database experience is an asset.
- Experience with Government of Canada-funded granting programs and English-French bilingualism are assets.
Compensation and Schedule
Salary: $59,535–$74,419 per year. Full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work.
