As a Project Management Consultant, you will provide consultative services and service design expertise to City clients who are leading projects, managing programs or portfolios, and/or making high-level business decisions. Primary duties include:
- Provide project, program, portfolio management and lifecycle expertise to clients. This includes: identifying and understanding clients' needs, determining whether pre-defined project management services will meet clients' needs or whether customized solutions are required, developing a statement of work and detailed plans, leading the implementation of plans, facilitating understanding and agreement at critical points, and discussing results, deliverables, and best practices. Current advisory services include but are not limited to Project / Program Chartering and Planning, Strategic Planning, Governance, Current and Desired State Assessment, Risk Assessment, Lessons Learned etc.
- Provide strategic consulting services to clients making high level business decisions where broad strategic objectives, long-term benefits, and strategic investment decisions must be realized. This includes applying strategic planning and business strategy principles and methodologies and developing and implementing creative and customized solutions.
- Support and improve the Corporate Project Management Framework through the proactive identification, research, and development of standards that reflect emerging and best practices and trends, and address opportunities and challenges faced by the project management community.
- Develop and implement new service offerings that respond to emerging trends and the changing needs of clients and support continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications- A completed 2-year diploma in a related field plus at least 10 years of related experience; OR
- A degree in Business, Commerce or a related field plus at least 8 years of related experience.
- Experience must include working with clients in a consultative capacity that involves diagnosing, analyzing, problem solving and recommending solutions for project management and strategic planning challenges.
- A completed certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP, PRINCE2) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and engage client teams in a workshop setting.
