Organization OverviewThe Family Violence Consortium of Manitoba (FVCM) backbone organization is a nonprofit entity serving as the coordinating body for a network of 30+ organizations collectively known as The Collective. Through a Collective Impact approach, the organization seeks to improve outcomes for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) by fostering collaboration, building capacity, driving shared advocacy and supporting systems level change.
FVCM operates from a foundation of intersectionality, decolonial practice, trauma-informed care, and survivor-centered leadership, engaging stakeholders that span government, health care, social services, Indigenous leadership, education, funders, law enforcement, and community advocates.
Research and Data Manager OverviewThe Research and Data Manager will lead data collection, research, and evaluation efforts for the GBV sector. This position ensures that evidence-based decision-making drives program development, policy advocacy, and community-informed approaches to GBV in Manitoba. The Research and Data Manager is responsible for coordinating data collection with partner organizations, conducting research and analysis, and translating findings into actionable insights that guide the efforts within the organization. This role requires strong research expertise, a passion for data-driven social change, and experience in the GBV, public health, or social justice sectors while working from a decolonized, trauma-informed, and intersectional gender-based lens.
Key ResponsibilitiesData Coordination and Collection:- Develop and implement a set of data collection tools and standards to ensure coordinated and consistent data collection and reporting.
- Participate in a regular exchange of ideas, best practices, and techniques with other data managers from other organizations to refine strategy, improve outcomes, and strengthen the backbone organization’s approaches and strategies.
Quantitative and Qualitative Methodologies:- Lead research efforts to analyze trends, identify emerging issues, and guide future strategies, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Engage with and collect data from unique populations impacted by GBV, including but not limited to, communities in rural and Northern Manitoba, Indigenous, 2SLGBTQ+, francophone, men, and newcomer populations to embed their experiences in this initiative's approach.
- Translate complex data into engaging and accessible terms that can be accessed and understood by diverse audiences and the public.
Program Evaluation:- Establish and implement an evaluative framework to monitor program outcomes and progress toward achieving collective goals.
Reporting and Communication:- Develop regular reports and presentations that summarize research findings, key trends, and the progress and impact of the initiative.
Confidentiality and Compliance:- Ensure the accuracy, security, and confidentiality of all data collected in compliance with legal and ethical standards, including PHIPA and federal data protection regulations.
Working Groups:- Participate in the Research and Data working groups and community groups as identified.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Public Health, Sociology, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
