Job Title:Respite Support Worker – Adults with Autism (Casual, Part-Time, & Full-Time)

About UsWhite Pines Academy is a specialized skill building centre in Barrie dedicated to supporting adults (18+) with autism and developmental disabilities. We provide structured daytime programs, life skills training, and are expanding into center-based respite services (all respite takes place at our academy facility — not in-home).
Position OverviewWe are currently hiring Respite Support Workers for casual, part-time, and full-time positions. This is meaningful work supporting adults with autism in a center-based respite setting at our academy. Shifts will include weekday daytimes, weekday evenings, and weekends.
We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and energetic individuals who enjoy working with adults with developmental disabilities. Successful candidates who demonstrate strong reliability will have priority for more hours and permanent positions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct support and supervision to adults with autism during center-based respite shifts
- Facilitate engaging activities (arts, music, cooking, games, exercise, life skills, etc.)
- Support individuals with personal care needs (including toileting and hygiene)
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and positive environment at the academy
- Follow individual support plans and collect basic data when required
- Assist with community outings when scheduled
- Work collaboratively with our small, supportive team
QualificationsRequired:- Diploma or degree in Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker, Child & Youth Care, or a related field
- Previous experience supporting adults with autism or developmental disabilities
- Patience, reliability, and strong communication skills
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (or willing to obtain)
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willing to obtain)
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s licence (G or G2 preferred)
Assets:- Experience with personal care and toileting support
- Knowledge of autism-specific strategies (Zones of Regulation, PECS, etc.)
- Availability for weekday daytimes, evenings, and weekends
Hours & CompensationFlexible shifts including weekday daytimes, weekday evenings, and weekends (all shifts are center-based at White Pines Academy)
Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
