The base salary will be $70,560 - $100,680 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

ResponsibilitiesThe Responsible Investing Analyst will support the University in achieving its deliverables related to the responsible investment strategy and pathway initiative. The Analyst will develop and implement a framework to map the University’s portfolio to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Analyst will provide support to and collaborate with the internal investment team in conducting due diligence, reviewing and monitoring impact strategies and will liaise with several external investment managers and responsible investing organizations in terms of engagement and education. The Analyst will complete various responsible investing-related tasks, including data collection, knowledge building, reporting and portfolio analytics, and monitoring Western’s progress on Responsible Investing commitments. The Analyst will lead any project related to the Principles for Responsible Investment and complete the mandatory reporting. The Analyst will act as a representative of the University in industry panels and conferences as well as provide education and best practices to the University Investment Committee on developments in responsible investing.
QualificationsEducation:- Bachelor’s degree in Business or other relevant field with strong foundation in Finance
- Progress towards, or completion of, or willingness to pursue relevant certifications such as a Certificate in ESG Investing (CFA Institute), Sustainability and Climate Risk Certificate (Global Association of Risk Professionals)
- At least Level 1 Chartered Financial Analyst or Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement
Experience:- 5 years of relevant experience in investment management, investment consulting or other related work experience with exposure to and evidence of a strong passion for responsible investing, sustainability/climate consulting
- Experience working on corporate carbon footprint calculations and decarbonization plans
- Experience working with institutional investment portfolios
Preferred:- Experience or familiarity with UN PRI, NZAOA, TCFD disclosure, Climate Action 100+, IRIS+, responsible investing service providers (e.g. data, rating and engagement service providers) and other responsible investing initiatives is considered an asset
- Experience engaging with external asset managers
- Experience in manager selection within an institutional investor context
- Experience with strategic asset allocation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:- Strong knowledge of responsible investing practices for institutional investors
- Familiarity with investment-related concepts, such as capital markets and fundamental company analysis an asset
- Knowledge of a variety of asset classes which are likely to be part of institutional investment portfolios an asset
