Position SummarySenior Business Analyst, Finance
North York General (NYG) is embarking on the largest redevelopment and expansion in its history. With a new Long-Term Care Development (LTCD) and a New Patient Care Tower (NPCT)– the first healthcare Alliance project in Ontario – and many other strategic redevelopment priorities, NYG is transforming healthcare delivery for our patients, families and community.
In this position you are responsible for working with Planning and Redevelopment – including the LTCD and NPCT teams as a representative of Finance, providing consultation to Managers, Directors and Vice-Presidents. Your goal in this position is to understand the financial aspects of all capital projects, identify key issues, and use expertise and judgment to make recommendations. The Senior Business Analyst role is experienced in using financial analysis or financial modeling to evaluate proposed projects. The role requires excellent communication skills, including expertise in writing business cases, proposals and briefing notes, cashflows, support project budget development and management, as well as developing effective presentations and articulating ideas during interdepartmental meetings. In this role, you will have excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem solving skills. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families
On a practical level, you will- Provide comprehensive expertise and analysis on financial information pertaining to the hospital’s major capital projects and clients’ operations.
- Identify projects’ potential financial risks and opportunities and use expertise/judgment to provide recommendations to various levels of management.
- Work with Managers, Directors and Vice Presidents in the development of business cases and briefing notes, including funding proposals and management of clients’ ministry reporting requirements.
- Manage financial and statistical data to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Work with Managers, Directors and Vice Presidents in the development of financial budget (operating and capital) and the monitoring of the client’s financial performance including forecast of financial results.
- Support senior management team in strategy development.
- Coach management on business acumen.
- Conduct training on use of financial tool
