About the opportunityBA-Tech Consulting is seeking a BI Analyst on behalf of a federal government client to define the scope and deliverables that apply to the development, modeling, and validation of Business Intelligence (BI) tools in support of land equipment program management and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
BackgroundAs part of a federal digital transformation initiative supporting stewardship of digital assets, the client will be using Defense 365 (D365) as the primary BI tool to create, store, share, and transmit information to enable the Chain of Command (CoC) to plan and make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, collate, and prioritize client requirements from DRMIS, RDIMS and legacy systems required for BI tools and reporting requirements;
- Implement the technical specifications in D365 and ERP Central Component (ECC);
- Create standards for all SAP® Business Objects (BOBJ), SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, Microsoft (MS) Project, Analysis for Excel, Power BI, Portal and any DND approved application for reports / dashboards in D365 and ECC version or higher;
- Make recommendations for application automation for SAP® BOBJ, SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, MS Project, Excel, Power BI, Portal and any DND approved application that will enable BI reports / dashboards in D365 and ECC version or higher;
- Analyze, validate, and document BI requirements for all D365 tools, SAP® BOBJ, SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, MS Project, Excel, Power BI, Portal and any DND approved application
- Document the BI process for DRMIS and D365;
- Develop a data warehouse functionality from business specifications by designing, developing, and testing in SAP® BI including Business Explorer (BEx);
- Identify issues with existing BI reports and provide prompt and accurate solutions in a timely manner;
- Provide support to the DGLEPM users with creation and analysis of the ad hoc reports related to Plant Maintenance (PM), Material Management (MM) and Cross Application Time Sheet (CATS);
- Provide training to DGLEPM users on BI related tools, application and reports as needed;
- Design frameworks for integrating legacy data and processes into DRMIS BI and D365 BI;
- Design frameworks and interface for integrating new data into DRMIS BI and D365 BI;
- Analyze and recommend alternatives and options for solutions within BOBJ, SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, MS Project, Power BI, Portal and any DND approved application for reports / dashboards in ECC;
- Understand the impact of new processes within the organization and work with others to understand how these changes can affect BI within D365;
- Work with the data integration teams to rectify BI related issues found in DRMIS and D365;
- Analyze technical requirements to determine key integration points and detail data flow to automate BI information;
- Develop workflows and processes for data insertion that will be used to generate BI;
- Develop an Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) solution for the integration of legacy data into ECC version or higher.
- Develop automated procedures of data acquisition from the data sources (PM/MM/CATS) and legacy systems (Plan Expert (PlannEX), Equipment Data Repository (EDR), Guardian and Fleet Management System (FMS)) that will be used to create BI;
- Advise users on the efficient use of data within DRMIS and D365;
- Develop and implement procedures that will ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data stored in DRMIS and D365 to generate BI;
- Ensure tests are conducted that the BI is working properly prior to delivery in accordance to the technical requirements; and
- Develop and implement data quality assurance standards.
