We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Lab Technician to join our team at a Health Canada-licensed cannabis production facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in laboratory testing, sample analysis, and a solid understanding of Health Canada regulations related to cannabis products. As a Senior Lab Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of our products by conducting routine testing and maintaining a well-organized lab environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine and detailed analysis of cannabis products, including potency testing (THC/CBD levels), terpene profiling, and microbial testing.
- Ensure all testing meets Health Canada’s regulatory requirements and internal quality standards to maintain product integrity.
- Perform sample collection, preparation, and processing for laboratory analysis using various analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC-MS, and more.
- Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Maintain precise and accurate documentation of all test results, protocols, and equipment calibrations.
- Ensure that all testing procedures comply with Health Canada’s Cannabis Act and Good Production Practices (GPP).
- Work alongside the Quality department to ensure that all procedures follow properly documents SOPs.
- Assist in the creation, implementation and follow through of SOPs for the lab.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate lab instruments to ensure their optimal functionality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any equipment issues, ensuring the reliability of test results.
- Assist the R&D team in developing and validating new testing methods, formulations, or processes.
- Contribute to the advancement of lab technologies and testing procedures in line with industry trends.
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and contamination-free laboratory environment.
- Ensure all materials, chemicals, and equipment are stored and handled according to safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications & Skills- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in laboratory safety or cannabis testing are a plus.
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a regulated industry (such as pharmaceuticals, cannabis, or food safety).
- Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments like HPLC, GC-MS, and other relevant testing equipment.
- Familiarity with Health Canada’s Cannabis Act and GPP regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to laboratory testing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to document procedures clearly.
Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
