Responsibilities
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Senior Manager, Technical Training, Support, and Apprenticeship Program provides strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight for all technical training, workforce development, and apprenticeship initiatives within CMBC’s maintenance division. This position is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of high-quality training programs that align with corporate objectives, meet all regulatory standards, and address the evolving requirements of fleet technologies. The Senior Manager leads a multidisciplinary team, ensures adherence to certification standards, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement in training effectiveness, safety protocols, and technical proficiency. Additionally, the role manages the complete lifecycle of the CMBC Apprentice Program, ensuring a robust and sustainable pipeline of skilled trades professionals. The position is accountable for stewarding budgets, overseeing data management systems, and cultivating strategic stakeholder relationships. As a representative of the Technical Training Department, the Senior Manager actively participates in cross-functional committees and provides expert guidance to support fleet reliability, operational excellence, and long-term workforce capability.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provides strategic leadership and comprehensive program oversight, leveraging industry analysis to implement long-term initiatives for the advancement of Technical Training, Technical Support, and the CMBC Apprentice Program. Ensures departmental structure and objectives are fully aligned with organizational vision, safety protocols, and all applicable regulatory standards.
Effectively leads and provides oversight to training managers, establishing clear expectations and measurable objectives. Offers strategic guidance and stewardship to ensure managers excel in overseeing the core training development department, garage training, technical support, instructional design, and the apprenticeship program. Facilitates a collaborative and results-driven environment that promotes operational excellence across all training initiatives.
Provides specialized expertise to the strategic planning and development of training initiatives across Fleet Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Stores, and Seabus. Actively promotes and upholds a culture centered on safety, collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional development.
Comprehensive oversight of apprentice recruitment, onboarding, training, evaluation, and advancement across all maintenance disciplines, ensuring rigorous standards and a consistent, high-quality experience throughout each phase of the apprenticeship lifecycle.
