Purpose:Ensures the stable, secure, and efficient operation of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) computer network infrastructure across all organizational sites. Oversees the planning, development, installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of network hardware, software, and communication systems. Provides advanced technical support, resolves complex network issues, and contributes to strategic planning for network growth and modernization.
Roles & ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Planning- Contributes to the development, implementation, and maintenance of service level agreements, procedures and associated training plans as a subject matter expert in the areas of network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
- Work in close collaboration with other IM Team members.
- Network Architecture & Roadmap: Develop and maintain the multi‑year network architecture roadmap aligned to business goals, security standards, and budget constraints (on‑prem, hybrid, and cloud networking).
- Capacity & Resilience Planning: Forecast bandwidth, throughput, and hardware lifecycle needs; design for redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery.
- Security by Design: Partner with cybersecurity to embed Zero Trust principles, segmentation, least privilege, and secure remote access into network designs and change plans.
- Author and maintain network standards, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks; contribute to change control and governance processes.
- Risk Management: Identify technology risks, assess vulnerabilities, and plan mitigations; ensure compliance with applicable frameworks (e.g., CIS benchmarks, ISO 27001, NIST).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Translate business requirements into technical solutions; provide architectural guidance to infrastructure, security, collaboration, and application teams.
- Technology Evaluation: Track industry trends; conduct proofs‑of‑concept and comparative analyses to inform build vs buy decisions and modernization priorities.
Acquisition & Deployment- Solution Selection: Define requirements, evaluate vendors, and recommend solutions for switches, routers, firewalls, Wi‑Fi, network monitoring, DNS/DHCP/IPAM (DDI), and SD‑WAN.
- Procurement Support: Develop bills of materials (BOMs), licensing models, and total cost of ownership (TCO); support RFPs/RFQs and vendor negotiations.
- Implementation & Migrations: Lead deployments, upgrades, and migrations (e.g., data center, branch, Wi‑Fi refresh, IPv6, cloud interconnects/ExpressRoute/Direct Connect).
- Configuration Management: Implement infrastructure‑as‑code or standardized templates for consistent, auditable configurations (e.g., Ansible, Git).
- Testing & Validation: Build test plans, conduct performance and failover testing, and document acceptance criteria prior to cutover.
- Documentation & Handover: Create as‑built documentation, topology diagrams, IP addressing plans, and knowledge articles; train support teams.
Operational Management- Monitoring & Reliability: Maintain proactive monitoring, alerting thresholds, and SLOs for availability, latency, and packet loss using NMS and observability tools.
- Incident & Problem Management: Serve as Tier‑3 escalation; lead root cause analysis (RCA), corrective actions, and post‑incident reviews.
- Change & Release: Plan and execute maintenance windows; follow change management processes with risk assessment, rollback plans, and communication.
- Security Operations: Manage firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, network access control (NAC), and segmentation policies; remediate vulnerabilities and configuration drift.
- Performance & Optimization: Analyze traffic, QoS, and bottlenecks; tune routing, spanning‑tree, channeling, and wireless RF parameters for optimal user exper
