Job Title: Senior Project Engineer (Capital Projects)
Location: Nanticoke, ON
Job Type: Contract (19 Months)
Compensation: Up to $90/hour (Based on Experience)
Job OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the execution of capital projects within a structured project management environment. This role focuses on coordinating engineering, procurement, and construction activities to ensure project objectives are achieved in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
The position operates within established processes and under defined supervision, supporting project delivery through technical coordination, contractor interface, and issue resolution. This role also provides backup support to the Project Manager as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Perform engineering design evaluations and support project execution within budget and scheduling constraints
- Participate in Invitation to Tender (ITT) development, bid evaluation, and contractor selection
- Support identification and sourcing of long-lead equipment and coordinate with FEED contractors
- Coordinate development of project deliverables, including Gate 3 documentation and Functional Interaction Plans
- Manage and facilitate project issue resolution processes
- Coordinate and track change requests and support change authorization activities
- Ensure assigned work scope aligns with project objectives, specifications, and standards
- Act as an interface between the project team and contractors to ensure alignment and effective execution
- Review production, maintenance, and operational reports to identify and address issues
- Support smooth transitions between project phases
- Lead coordination efforts within the Project Management Team (PMT) to ensure consistent application of project management systems
- Provide backup support to the Project Manager as required
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering
- Experience in engineering, construction, and project controls within capital projects
- Strong understanding of project management processes and lifecycle execution
- Knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, and work processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong organizational, coordination, and planning skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working within structured capital project delivery frameworks (stage-gate processes)
- Multi-disciplinary experience across engineering and construction phases
- Background in oil & gas, energy, or large-scale industrial projects
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills

Pay: $85.00-$90.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
