Back Country Group is looking for a reliable, hands-on Shop Assistant with experience in welding, mechanics, equipment maintenance, and general shop work.

This is a good role for someone who enjoys working around trucks, trailers, excavating equipment, tools, and fabrication projects. The right person should be dependable, mechanically inclined, organized, and willing to help wherever needed.

Responsibilities:

The Shop Assistant will help with:

• General shop cleanup, organization, and maintenance
• Assisting with repairs on trucks, trailers, attachments, and equipment
• Basic welding, fabrication, and repair work
• Greasing, servicing, washing, and inspecting equipment
• Helping mechanics and operators with parts, tools, and repairs
• Loading, unloading, and organizing materials and supplies
• Picking up parts or materials when needed
• Maintaining tools, consumables, and shop inventory
• Keeping the yard, shop, and equipment areas clean and safe
• Other general labour and support tasks as required

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience with basic welding and fabrication
• Mechanical experience or strong mechanical aptitude
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, grinders, torches, and shop equipment
• Ability to work safely and follow instructions
• Valid driver’s licence preferred
• Ability to lift, carry, and work physically throughout the day
• Good attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn
• Experience around heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, or construction equipment is an asset

Compensation

Wage: Starting at $22–$30+/ hour, depending on experience and ability.

Higher wage may be considered for someone with strong welding, mechanical, or heavy equipment repair experience.

• Occasional overtime may be available

Pay: $22.00-$35.00 per hour
