Title: SOCIAL & COMMUNITY SERVICE WORKER – Summer PositionPurpose:The Social & Community Service Worker will support Woolwich Community Services by assisting with the delivery of community programs, helping clients access essential services, and contributing to a fundraising event that supports families in our community. This position plays an important role in strengthening local supports such as the Food Bank, Backpack Program, and Family Violence Prevention initiatives.
Responsibilities:Community Program Support- Assist in the Food Bank by building food hampers, preparing client orders, organizing inventory, and supporting weekly food distribution programs
- Greet clients in a welcoming, respectful manner and help ensure smooth program delivery
- Support the Backpack Program by organizing supplies, assisting families during pickup times, and maintaining an orderly program space
- Help with the weekly Wednesday Hot Dog Lunch program, including setup, serving, and cleanup
Fundraising & Event Support- Assist with planning and organizing the annual WCS Golf Tournament in support of the Family Violence Prevention Program
- Collect donations, prizes, and sponsorships from local businesses for the event
- Support the Community Youth BBQ fundraiser, including setup, customer service, and onsite coordination
- Help prepare promotional materials, thank-you letters, and event reports as needed
Team & Administrative Support- Work collaboratively with the WCS team to complete summer projects and program tasks
- Maintain accurate records related to program activities, sponsors, donations, and client interactions
Qualifications:- Must be/have been a student of a program related to community service
- Fundraising or event planning experience is an asset but not required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent computer and organizational skills
- Ability to work respectfully with community members from diverse backgrounds
- Reliable and able to manage multiple tasks
- Vulnerable sector police check required
- Need a reliable vehicle
Job Details:- 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday – flexibility required to meet event schedule
- Start date to be determined, contract is 8 weeks.
- $19.00 per hour
