POSITION SUMMARYThe Stepping Stones Parent Support Coordinator is a key member of the Ottawa Parent Resource Centre’s (PRC) Family Resilience Program, providing compassionate, evidence-based support to parents and caregivers across the Ottawa community. This role is part of a three-year Minto-funded initiative focused on implementing the Primary Care Stepping Stones Triple P (SSTP) program—an evidence-based parenting program designed for families of children (ages 0–12) with disabilities who are experiencing behavioural or developmental challenges.
In this role, the Coordinator delivers individualized, short-term, skills-based parenting support grounded in the Stepping Stones Triple P model. Services focus on strengthening parenting capacity, supporting positive child development and behaviour, and reducing family stress. The position requires experience working with diverse families, including those navigating developmental disabilities, complex needs, and behavioural challenges, using trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approaches.
The Coordinator also supports the daily operation of the Parent Support Line (PSL), providing timely responses to inquiries, completing triage as appropriate, maintaining accurate and confidential documentation, and connecting families to relevant internal services and community resources. In addition, the role contributes to the broader goals of the Family Resilience Program by supporting parenting workshops, promoting program engagement, and collaborating with team members to ensure coordinated, responsive, and high-quality service delivery for families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct Service & Clinical Support- Deliver evidence-based Stepping Stones Triple P (Primary Care) consultations, providing individualized, short-term, skills-based parenting support to families of children (0–12) with developmental disabilities and behavioural challenges.
- Use a structured, goal-oriented coaching approach to support parents in developing practical strategies to promote positive behaviour, strengthen parent-child relationships, and build confidence in managing challenging situations.
- Provide services in-office, virtually, by phone, or in the family home, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to client needs.
- Support participant intake and screening processes, including information sharing, assessment of needs and readiness, and appropriate referrals to internal or external services.
- Respond to, monitor, and manage the Parent Support Line (PSL), ensuring timely responses, effective triage, accurate documentation, and consistent data entry in client management systems.
- Conduct structured follow-ups with participants to reinforce learning, monitor progress toward goals, address barriers, and support sustained engagement in services.
Program Design, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement- Contributes to program evaluation activities, including data collection, participant feedback, and facilitation observations, to support evidence-informed practices.
