We’re looking for a hands-on, results-driven Project Manager who understands steel fabrication and can drive projects from award through to closeout.
About the Position:The Project Manager oversees the fabrication and erection of steel structures from contract award to final closeout. They manage budgets, schedules, detailing, and field operations while serving as the primary liaison between clients, engineers, and erectors.
Main responsibilities will include:- Manage structural steel projects from kickoff to completion
- Coordinate with estimating, detailing, shop, and field teams
- Track budgets, costs, and weekly gross margin performance
- Handle Requests for information, Drawing Submittals and Change Orders
- Communicate with General Contractors, Consultants, and Suppliers
- Keep projects on schedule and proactively solve issues before they escalate
- Support shop flow and field installation coordination
- Review and analyze drawing and sketches to determine appropriate connections
- Respond to any requests for changes from the customer in troubleshooting client problems.
- Regular project correspondence and maintenance.
- Attend project meetings with engineers, architects and general contractors when required.
- Review contract drawings and specifications to identify any unusual or unique aspects.
- Regular fabrication shop visits.
Position Requirements:- A University Degree or Drafting/Engineering Technology Diploma from a recognized technical institute, or suitable work experience.
- Minimum 2 years within the Steel Industry or relevant industry experience.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects at once
- Knowledge in structural steel fabrication, connections and erection practices.
- Proficiency in Excel and other project management tools (Bluebeam, AutoCAD, SDS2)
- Ability to read structural and architectural drawings.
- A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills.
