We are looking for enthusiastic, caring, and adventurous Forest School Assistants to join our summer camp team. You will support the delivery of engaging outdoor learning experiences for children aged 4–7 while helping create a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment where children can explore, take appropriate risks, and develop a meaningful connection with nature.
Our camp embraces a nature-based philosophy rooted in child-led learning, seasonal exploration, and the belief that children thrive when given time, space, and freedom to discover the world around them.
What You’ll Do- Support the Forest School Lead in facilitating daily outdoor learning experiences for children aged 4–11
- Build positive relationships with children through play, exploration, and meaningful interactions
- Assist with nature-based activities including loose parts play, natural crafts, storytelling, games, and outdoor exploration
- Help maintain a safe and engaging outdoor environment through active supervision and dynamic risk assessment
- Encourage children’s independence, confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills
- Assist with camp setup, organization, and daily operations
- Support children with personal care needs as required
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Educator and fellow team members to create a positive camp culture
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with families during drop-off and pick-up times
What We’re Looking For- Experience working with children aged 4–7 in outdoor, educational, recreational, or childcare settings
- Genuine enthusiasm for nature-based learning and outdoor education
- Ability to engage children through play, curiosity, and relationship-building
- Comfortable working outdoors for full days in varying weather conditions
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Positive, flexible, and dependable attitude
- Ability to remain calm, attentive, and responsive in dynamic outdoor environments
- Commitment to supporting children’s exploration while maintaining safety
Assets (not required)- Early Childhood Education (ECE) or teacher training, diploma, or degree
- Experience with Forest School, outdoor education, camps, scouting, or recreation programs
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Knowledge of local plants, wildlife, outdoor skills, or environmental education
- Experience supporting children with diverse learning and developmental needs
