We are currently hiring Full-Time Support Specialists for an existing vacancy at our High Park North location.
Compensation$20.00 – $24.75 per hour, commensurate with education, training, and relevant experience.
Position SummarySupport Specialists provide person-directed assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, supporting daily living, personal growth, community inclusion, and overall well-being in accordance with individualized support plans and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities- Provide person-directed support in residential and community settings
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with clients
- Respond to behavioural and emotional needs using approved CPI de-escalation strategies
- Facilitate life skills development including hygiene, budgeting, cooking, nutrition, and social skills
- Promote community inclusion through outings and engagement opportunities
- Assist with medical appointments and health-related coordination
- Support conflict resolution and manage challenging behaviours
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reporting
- Assist with household cleanliness, maintenance, and safety
Specialized Roles AvailableSupport Specialist – Mentor- Support life transitions, emotional regulation, and goal setting
- Foster self-advocacy, independence, and coping strategies
- Child and Youth Worker (CYW) education and/or experience considered a strong asset
Required Qualifications- Diploma or degree (completed or in progress) in a related field such as DSW, PSW, CYW, Social Services, Behavioural Science, or similar
- Experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities and/or dual diagnoses preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Google Drive and documentation systems
- Valid G-Class driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for transporting clients to appointments and community activities
- Up-to-date vaccinations/immunizations as required for client and workplace safety
Required Certifications (Prior to Start Date)- Valid First Aid & CPR – Emergency Level C
- Valid CPI Certification
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Broad Record Check (preferably issued within the past 3 months)
Physical & Work Environment RequirementsThis role requires the ability to stand, walk, lift, transfer, and physically support individuals with varying mobility and behavioural support needs.
