About the teamThe Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation IT team provides hardware and software support, cybersecurity training and defense, and strategic technological direction to the organization.
What you’ll doThe System Administrator ensures the efficient, stable, and secure operation of the Federation’s infrastructure, cloud services, networks, security systems, and information systems. This role blends systems administration, cloud administration, network management, with enhanced security responsibilities.
Responsibilities include:
- Administer and maintain infrastructure, cloud, network, and security systems across hybrid, on-prem, and cloud environments.
- Maintain datacentre server infrastructure technologies.
- Support alignment of security best practices, frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in all incident response and recovery processes to ensure data security is maintained and operations are restored.
- Support security risk management activities including threat assessments, compliance tasks, vulnerability assessments, and remediation efforts.
- Plan, test, schedule, and deploy Windows OS patches and updates for servers and endpoints.
- Maintain and manage the email system, its connectors, and delivery systems.
- Monitor and protect systems and data using IPS/IDS, SIEM tools, endpoint protection, and other security technologies.
- Install, configure, and maintain firewalls, switches, routers, wi-fi, and hybrid cloud networking components.
- Perform ongoing network monitoring, incident troubleshooting, and maintenance of network documentation such as IP inventory and topology diagrams.
- Implement network‑security controls including segmentation, VPNs, and IPS/IDS solutions.
- Assist with the development of policies and procedures for the installation, maintenance, and support of all IT systems to minimize risk and improve security posture.
- Assist in the management and maintenance of backup systems and sources to improve data and systems resiliency.
- Provide administration and support for user‑facing applications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and deliver technical training as needed.
- Participate in security awareness, professional development, and organizational initiatives.
- Recommend emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and security posture.
- Under the direction of the Senior Manager, IT, ensure the Federation’s technology infrastructure meets organizational needs.
