OverviewWe are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck/Trailer Driver that in Kamloops to join our transportation team. This position is a 3 day a week shift , with one extra shift once every 2 weeks which would be split between the new candidate and the other Truck/Trailer driver. This is a Essential Service for Interior Health.
This role involves delivering freight efficiently and safely while maintaining high standards of customer service. This is an Essential Service for The ideal candidate will possess a valid driving license, experience with commercial driving, and familiarity with heavy equipment operation. Must have Mountain Driving Experience. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on safety, professionalism, and operational excellence.
This position is Transporting Linen to Hospitals and Care homes ,starting in Kamloops and going to Abbotsford and back to Kamloops . Must be able to load and unload Linen carts with weight varying from 200 plus pounds. Carts have wheels for smooth movement.
Must have a valid Class 1 with a clean abstract. And must also pass a criminal security clearance check to operate in the Interior Health Facilities.
The 5 Ton Position is a relief position , filling in for the driver for vacations and or a day off.
Vacation is allowed after 1 year of employment.
Duties- Safely operate a Truck/Trailer vehicle for local or regional deliveries, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload Linen Carts in a safe and efficient manner
- Ensure freight is secured properly for transit to prevent damage or accidents during transportation
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
- Assist with heavy equipment operation or automotive repairs if required, supporting overall fleet maintenance
Experience- Valid Class 1 driving license with a clean driving record
- Must have Mountain Driving Experiance
- Proven experience in commercial driving, freight delivery, or related logistics role
- Basic automotive repair skills are advantageous but not mandatory
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy vehicle operation and freight handling
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and prioritize deliveries effectively
