Teaching Assistant (1 Position - CUPE 3902, Unit 2)

EDS265H1F: Introduction to Teaching

Builds understanding of teaching as professional practice. The course primarily focuses on the research base underlying policies and documents such as the Foundations of Professional Practice.

Hours of work: 140 hours

Class schedule: Mondays 1-3pm (lecture); Mondays 3pm/4pm (tutorial)

Dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026

Salary: $53.92 per hour as per CUPE agreement

Course Modality: In-person, Victoria College campus

Qualifications required:

• Graduate student in Education (Ph.D. students preferred but Master-level students will be considered). Preference in hiring will be given to graduate students at the University of Toronto and those with prior TA experience
• Experience teaching in K-12 or university/college settings
• Familiarity with the Ontario College of Teachers Standards of Professional Practice
• Passion for learning and teaching
• Must have excellent time management skills
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills
• Must have high capacity for objective, consistent evaluation of student performance

Description of duties:

The TA will lead tutorials, mark student assignments, respond to assignment-related inquiries from students, track student attendance and monitor participation in classes.
