We’re hiring a Project Support Technologist to join our Operations team at Cameco’s Port Hope facility. In this role, you will provide technical drafting and documentation support to manufacturing, maintenance, and capital projects by producing and managing accurate and timely technical drawings and design documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail‑oriented, individual with strong technical drafting skills and a collaborative mindset who is committed to safety and continuous improvement. The term is expected to be for 12 months.
Position and ResponsibilitiesLocated at our Port Hope facility, this position involves the following responsibilities:
- Support Cameco’s commitment to safety by working collaboratively with all team members and adhering to site safety standards and expectations
- Create, revise, and maintain mechanical and technical drawings using CAD software and 3D models to support manufacturing, maintenance, and project engineering teams
- Assist project managers and engineers to update, organize and archive project drawings and document
- Participate in design reviews and assist with problem-solving related to equipment design and layout
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve drawing accuracy, efficiency, and processes
- Maintain and improve project document and drawing databases.
- Maintain accurate drawing and project records, ensure drawings comply with internal standards, specifications, and applicable codes
- Support project procurement activities.
Education and QualificationsRequirements of the position:- 0-3 years of relevant work experience
- Post-secondary education in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar)
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, sketches, and technical documentation
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications
Assets:- Mechanical drafting experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience supporting equipment upgrades, process piping, or plant layouts
- Experience with drawing management platforms (e.g. Autodesk Vault).
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in SAP.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement or operational efficiency initiatives
