About the positionDutiesAs a recognized departmental technical subject matter expert, the incumbent contributes to the development and management of national aviation security oversight and regulatory programs related to security screening technology for both cargo and passenger air transportation.
Key duties include:
- Managing and reviewing proposed technical configuration changes to aviation security screening equipment.
- Reviewing, maintaining, and contributing to standard operating procedures related to security screening technology.
- Conducting or overseeing the testing and certification of aviation security screening equipment.
- Performing technical reviews and audits of screening equipment at airports and air cargo facilities to verify compliance with regulatory and technical requirements.
- Developing and delivering technical training related to screening technology to Transport Canada’s Aviation Security Inspectorate.
Work environmentHybrid – In office 3 days a week, subject to change.
We work in a dynamic, technically complex regulatory environment focused on safeguarding Canada’s aviation system. Our team collaborates closely with operational and policy groups within the Aviation Security Branch, as well as with industry partners, airport authorities, air carriers, and national and international stakeholders. Our work combines analytical, advisory, and operational activities related to aviation security screening equipment, with occasional travel to airports and stakeholder locations to support audits, assessments, and oversight activities.
