Description:The Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of therapeutic rehabilitation programs. The Therapy Assistant participates in assessment related activities as well as the planning and development of client programs which includes leading individual or group treatment and educational interventions. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:A directly related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:- Previous experience in a continuing care, rehabilitation, or speech-language pathology setting is required.
- Must be able to follow Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) direction and work within defined scopes of practice.
- Effective communication skills (verbal/written) to support patients and collaborate with team members is essential.
- Must be patient, flexible, and comfortable supporting adults with complex or limited communication needs.
- Ability to maintain concentration for extended periods.
- Strong interpersonal skills to address patient and family concerns respectfully.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working with adult and/or geriatric populations is an asset.
- The role requires spending extended periods standing, walking, and working in close supportive contact with patients.
- Must be able to safely bend, lift, pull, and perform variable and occasionally awkward movements, including assisting with transfers, supporting adults, and transporting therapy materials or equipment.
- Experience in hospital and community-based settings is considered an asset.
