Job OverviewWe are seeking an Experienced and Reliable 5 ton truck driver to join our team at a thriving wholesale horticulture grower and distributor. This role involves transporting goods safely and efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on safety, possess excellent communication skills, and be comfortable with some heavy lifting and warehouse operations. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on professionalism and safety standards.
You will be driving a newer 5 ton box truck, loading and unloading the product and material as well as moving product and material from one nursery to another as required as well as delivering product to customers. The job to start as soon as possible.
Duties- Safely operate commercial trucks to transport goods to various locations throughout the lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and Okanagan
- Ensure all shipments are secured properly before transit
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety compliance
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery schedules and issues
- Assist with warehouse duties including moving inventory and other assigned duties when not driving
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during transportation
Qualifications- Valid commercial class 5 driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record (Copy of Driving record abstract will be required at interview
- Experience in commercial driving, preferably within a warehouse or logistics environment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks regularly
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with team members and customers
- Excellent moving skills for loading/unloading cargo efficiently and safely
- Commitment to safety protocols and customer service excellence
- Fluent in spoken and written English required.
