Actuary, Segregated Funds - Corporate Actuarial
Location: Hybrid - Kingston or Toronto, ON
The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $125,440 - $174,720. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only; fixed-term contract and casual roles are not eligible for annual bonus and would receive only the base salary component. The actual base salary offered within this range will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
Empire Life is looking to hire an Actuary to join our Corporate Actuarial team! We are actively seeking candidates to fill a current, open position. The Actuary contributes to achieving business goals by leading initiatives and advising on complex actuarial issues with a focus on valuation, capital management, and/or financial planning.

What you’ll be working on- Develop, run and maintain Segregated Fund and Annuity models, valuation and reporting processes and produce and explain quarterly IFRS 17 and LICAT results
- Lead the development, execution and analysis of complex actuarial projects, processes and models to support the functional area and achieve business goals and objectives
- Lead research and analysis and provide advice on actuarial issues, methods and solutions to support business strategy development
- Provide support and guidance to team members in delivery of departmental projects and process efficiencies
- Effectively communicate, collaborate, influence and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the development and delivery of actuarial programs
- Continue professional development including business knowledge development to support career progression and role competency in sustaining the company’s pool of actuarial resources
What we’re looking for you to have- 8 – 10 years of relevant work experience in the insurance/financial services industry
- Completion of FSA and FCIA designation
- Completion of a university degree with courses in mathematics, economics and/or business
- Advanced mathematical and programming skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced research, analysis and decision-making skills
- Ability to develop and negotiate innovative solutions
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities
- Proven ability to provide guidance and share knowledge effectively
- Advanced working knowledge of spreadsheet, database and word processing software
- Advanced working knowledge of actuarial applications (AXIS, Atlas, etc.)
