We are seeking an experienced AZ Instructor who takes pride in mentorship, safety, and professionalism, and is looking for a long-term opportunity in a supportive and structured environment.
What You’ll DoAs an AZ Instructor at TTDS, your role is to develop confident, skilled, and safe commercial drivers. You will blend hands-on instruction, mentorship, and evaluation to ensure students meet industry and regulatory standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver practical, on-the-road AZ training that meets or exceeds MELT requirements
- Provide clear instruction and demonstrations in:
- In-cab driving techniques
- Full pre-trip inspections
- Safe and repeatable backing procedures
- Proper coupling and uncoupling
- Confident urban driving and 400-series highway operation
- Adapt teaching approaches to different learning styles and experience levels
- Evaluate student progress, provide feedback, and coach students toward improvement
- Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, progress, and certifications
- Ensure all instructions align with provincial regulations, TTSAO standards, and safety protocols
- Contribute to a positive and professional training environment where students feel supported and challenged
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to continuously improve training outcomes
What You BringWe are looking for instructors who take pride in their craft and understand the responsibility that comes with training professional drivers.
Required Qualifications:- Minimum 5 years of verifiable AZ commercial driving experience
- Active driving history with no significant gaps in the past 5 years
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts
- Patience, confidence, and professionalism for mentoring adult learners
- Solid understanding of provincial transportation regulations and safe operating practices
- Willingness to provide:
- Valid CVOR
- Certified driver’s abstract
- Criminal record check
- Proficiency in French is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:- Prior instructional or classroom experience (not required)
- Completion of TTDS in-house Trainer Program before working independently with students
