Career Opportunity

We are currently seeking a licensed Bricklayer (401A). This is a 40 hour work week involving night shift with Fridays and Saturdays off days. Come join our team!

What You Will Do

• Construct, install, and repair masonry structures including walls, partitions, chimneys, and foundations.
• Lay brick, stone, concrete block, firebrick, and other masonry or refractory materials.
• Read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and drawings to determine dimensions and materials.
• Prepare work areas by setting up scaffolds, positioning materials, mixing mortar, and arranging tools.
• Remove damaged brick, block, concrete, tile, or plaster prior to repairs.
• Cut, fit, and shape materials to accommodate irregular spaces or design requirements.
• Apply finishing work such as pointing mortar, repointing, and patching damaged sections.
• Perform plastering tasks including lath installation, plaster application, and finishing.
• Mix, apply, and finish concrete for small‑scale construction or repair projects.
• Clean and prepare masonry surfaces using chemical cleaners, solvents, or power cleaning equipment.
• Re-line and repair boiler and furnace combustion chambers using refractory materials.
• Drive TTC vehicles (as required) to transport crew members, tools, and materials to job sites.
• Complete required job cards, time cards, reports, and related documentation.
• Follow safe work practices, including scaffold setup, material handling, and adherence to O.H.S.A. and TTC rules.

What Qualifications Do You Bring

• Valid Brick & Stone Mason Certificate of Qualification, typically obtained through Grade 12 education and successful completion of the Brick & Stone Mason apprenticeship program (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• A copy of your valid Brick & Stone Mason Certificate of Qualification (401-A) must be submitted with your application.
• Ability to read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.
• Proficiency with standard bricklaying tools and equipment, including trowels, hammers, chisels, squares, levels, plumb bobs, grinders, saws, scaffolding, and power cleaning equipment.
• Ability to plan and carry out tasks using standard trade practices with minimal supervision.
• Strong understanding of safe work practices, including scaffold setup, material handling, and the use of protective equipment.
• Physical ability to perform moderately to heavily demanding work, including extended periods of standing, lifting, carrying, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
• Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions.
• Possession of a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario, class “G” driver’s license.
• As required under Ontario Regulation 490/09, of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, selected candidates must successfully satisfy a pre-employment medical examination, test fitting and training for breathing respirators in order to be considered for this job.
