Located in Peggy’s Cove, NS.
Overlooking iconic fishing boats, Margaret’s is a cozy East Coast café serving freshly brewed coffee and tea, Maritime inspired baked goods, seafood chowder, and delicious gourmet paninis.
Margaret’s Café is seeking reliable, hardworking, passionate, creative, and detail-oriented team members to create welcoming and memorable maritime experiences for our guests and visitors, while maintaining a clean and organized space. The ideal candidate will have an interest in gaining new skills, and the ability to work in a positive fast paced environment. This individual will report directly to the Café Manager.
Required Skills/Knowledge- Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Confidence in guiding customers and managing service flow.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to multitask, maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be comfortable engaging with diverse groups of people.
- Basic knowledge and history of the local community and popular gathering places or willingness to learn.
- Ability and willingness to work any assignment, including duties not listed within the scope of this job description.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
What You’ll Do:- Greet every guest warmly and professionally, setting a positive first impression.
- Performing all required point-of-sale transactions, both cash and credit card transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Manage the line efficiently so service feels smooth and organized.
- Practice quick, natural upselling to enhance the customer experience.
- Manage customer feedback, complaints, and difficult interactions at the point of sale, escalating issues to management when appropriate while maintaining smooth service flow and a welcoming environment.
- Maintain daily inventory control, advising supervisor/Manager when low on product.
- Supporting café operations such as opening and closing tasks, preparing for the day based on expected volumes.
- Monitor physical surroundings in assigned area throughout day for safety, cleanliness to ensure we meet sanitation guidelines.
- Respond quickly and courteously to patrons’ needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action.
- Daily cleaning of the kitchen, including daily, weekly, and monthly tasks lists.
- Assisting with set-up for events.
- Open to shift opportunities across any property within Six by The Sea.
The Cashier (POS) is the first point of contact for guests and plays a critical role in setting the tone, pace, and overall experience of the café. This role is responsible for delivering warm, confident hospitality, managing customer flow, taking accurate orders, handling payments, and communicating clearly with the kitchen and barista teams. A strong Cashier keeps service running smoothly, prevents issues before they escalate, and ensures guests leave feeling welcomed and cared for.
Job Types: Seasonal – Full and Part time
Contract length: 6-7 months
Wage: $18.00 per hour, plus TIPS

- 7 days a week, 9am-5pm (Mon-Wed); 9am-6pm (Thurs-Sun)
Education:- High School or equivalent
Experience:- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
- Food Service, Retail, Tourism, Hospitality (preferred)
- Food Safe Qualification and/or Responsible Beverage Server considered an asset
