We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Child Care Center Cook to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children in a safe and hygienic kitchen environment. Your culinary skills will contribute to the health and well-being of our young learners, ensuring they receive balanced meals that support their growth and development.
The hours for this role are approximately 7 hours per day to prepare morning and afternoon snack, and a hot lunch daily for our students.
Responsibilities- Prepare and cook a variety of healthy meals and snacks according to established menus stemming from Canada's Food Guide.
- Ensure all food handling practices comply with regional regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, adhering to health and safety standards from Peel Region Public Health.
- Assist in meal planning, taking into consideration dietary restrictions, Anaphylactic allergies and preferences of children.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report any shortages or needs for replenishment.
- Collaborate with staff to accommodate special events or dietary needs as required.
- Maintain accurate records of food preparation and service as needed.
Requirements- Valid Food Handlers Certificate
- Valid CPR and First Aid Training
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
- Proven experience as a cook in the food service or restaurant industry is preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is essential.
- Familiarity with meal preparation techniques, including portion control and nutritional guidelines.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in food handling and preparation processes.
- A passion for working with children and understanding their nutritional needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting while also being self-motivated.
