Overview:We are seeking skilled and passionate Cooks to join our team for our busy summer season and beyond. The Renfrew Pub is located in the remote community of Port Renfrew B.C. We are looking for individuals who have experience living remotely and understand the lifestyle that comes with it. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving delicious meals to our customers. Duties:- Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and customer preferences
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets quality standards
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations
- Assist in food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables or preparing sauces
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate any shortages or needs
Qualifications:- Proven experience as a Cook or similar role in a restaurant or food service setting
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and recipes
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Key responsibilities:- Working hand in hand with the Chef and other BOH team members.
- Line cooking, short order, events catering, daily food preparation, portioning, cleaning and dish washing.
- Ensuring product quality and cooking execution is tip top and of the finest quality.
- Prepare and cook individual dishes or entire meals for parties of up to 20 or more guests.
- Ensure sanitary cooking conditions and appropriate safe food handling.
- Communicate needs of the kitchen and BOH issues effectively and concisely in a professional manner with Chef and GM.
- Ensure that perfect opens and closes are happening daily.
- Ability to work 5 days a week minimum
- Ability to work 8-hour + days
- Ability to keep up with scheduled shifts and always be punctual.
- Adhering to company polices and procedures.
Requirements:- 1-year minimum experience in a fast-paced restaurant and or resort.
- Basic to advanced knife skills.
- Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship, red seal and/or journeyman certificate is an asset.
- Must have a passion for the hospitality industry, a love for food, as well as the desire to impact our guests' experience wherever possible.
- Comprehensive understanding, ability, or enthusiastic, motivated willingness to work all stations in the kitchen effectively. Fryers, prep, pans, ovens, grills, dishes etc.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent and comprehensive, oral/written communication skills.
- Basic quick math and problem-solving skill set.
- Ability to follow recipes and coaching without divergence from regulated specifications.
- A POSITIVE, coachable attitude and friendly, helpful demeanor
- Ability to adapt and flex to last minute requests and sudden changes / keen and concise decision-making skills.
- Laser focus and professionalism met with a solid sense of humor and thick skin.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, with no physical mobility issues that would inhibit your ability to perform jobs and tasks such as bending kneeling, stooping, ladder work, lifting but not limited to up to 50 lbs, range of motion, holding knives and pans, carrying dishes and food etc.
- Possesses a strong, sound, mind and body. Mental acuity and health to be able to handle the influx of orders by guests, volume, heat, pressure etc. in a calm, respectful and finessed manner.
- Capacity to excel in high pressure environments while maintaining our expected level of excellence.
- Must be able to thrive in a wild and isolated environment.
- Start dates ranging from May - June for the Summer Season
