Job Summary:The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in a commercial kitchen, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and a genuine interest in serving seniors.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and dietary requirements
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and portion control standards are met
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and stock rotation
- Accommodate special dietary needs (e.g., low sodium, diabetic-friendly meals)
- Collaborate with dietary staff and management
Qualifications:- Previous cooking experience (retirement home, healthcare, or hospitality preferred)
- Food Safe Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Knowledge of special diets and nutrition for seniors is an asset
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate and respectful attitude toward seniors
