About The RoleThe Data & Systems Specialist is a vital role within Aecon's nuclear sector, supporting the planning, training, and operational execution of the Darlington New Nuclear Project. This position involves consolidating complex workforce training, operational, and project data into actionable insights, thereby enhancing reporting accuracy, visibility, and decision-making processes.
The specialist will collaborate closely with training teams, construction operations, and project leadership to develop dashboards, automate workflows, and improve data integrity across multiple systems. The role is instrumental in driving digital transformation efforts, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards. Reporting directly to the Manager, Data & Systems Analyst, the position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Canada's nuclear innovation and infrastructure development while advancing data analytics and systems integration skills.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in data analytics, reporting, and systems support, preferably within large-scale infrastructure or nuclear projects
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
- Experience with workflow automation tools like Power Automate, Power Apps, or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of database management and development, including Excel, SQL, or similar technologies
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to evolving project needs
- Knowledge of safety, quality, and compliance standards within the nuclear or construction sectors is an asset
- Willingness to travel to remote project sites as required
Responsibilities- Collect, manage, analyze, and interpret training, workforce, and operational data to support project decision-making and trend analysis
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to enhance visibility into workforce readiness, safety, quality, production, and cost metrics
- Support leadership reporting requirements, including Layered Leadership Model (LLM) reports and performance dashboards
- Design and implement automated workflows to streamline reporting, compliance tracking, and data collection processes
- Identify opportunities to improve data integrity, reduce manual processes, and support digital transformation initiatives across projects
- Coordinate with software vendors and support the maintenance and upgrade of business intelligence platforms such as Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate
- Consolidate training and compliance data from multiple sources into unified reporting platforms for comprehensive analysis
- Provide ongoing support and training to project teams and stakeholders on new systems, tools, and technologies
- Apply statistical and process analysis techniques to support project planning, training, and execution phases
- Manage workload independently, ensuring alignment with project timelines and stakeholder needs
- Assist in the development of procedures, documentation, and best practices for data and systems management
- Travel to remote project sites as necessary to support on-site data collection and system implementation
