Position SummaryMedicine Hat Public School Division is recruiting teachers, internal to the division, to serve as a member of the newly established Complexity Teams. Complexity teams will support students facing a range of academic, behavioural, social and emotional challenges. This includes helping students learn English, supporting students with complex learning needs, overseeing or providing learning interventions, managing disruptive behaviours and providing additional enrichment for coded students.
Complexity teams are designed to strengthen in-class supports for students and teachers in K–6 learning environments with high classroom complexity. Each complexity team is comprised of one teacher and two educational assistants, working directly in and outside of classrooms to provide timely, targeted supports.
Key Responsibilities And QualificationsSkills & Requirements- Provide flexible in-class and small-group supports to help students access learning.
- Provide direct intervention and instructional support to students identified as needing additional academic, behavioral, or social-emotional assistance.
- Collaborate with complexity teams including specialists, administrators, and community partners to develop and implement comprehensive support plans.
- Support positive behaviour, self-regulation, and inclusive practices.
- Building strong relationships with students, helping students learn, and seeing the best in every student in an inclusive school setting
- Assisting and supporting students through individual support plans and/or behaviour support plans
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults
- Work as part of a team, take direction and follow student and classroom programs
- Contribute to professional learning, sharing best practices in intervention and EAL strategies with colleagues.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in accordance with divisional and provincial guidelines.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust interventions accordingly.
Preferred Assets- Specialized training in literacy, numeracy, or behavioral intervention.
- Experience with complexity teams or similar collaborative initiatives.
- Multilingual abilities or experience working with culturally diverse populations.
- Experience working with students with diverse needs and an understanding of childhood development.
