Demands, duties, qualificationsJob Summary:Reporting to the Fleet Supervisor, the Equipment Operator I will ensure the operational readiness of vehicles and equipment with Paramedicine and Medical Transport by performing assisted movements of NLHS vehicles throughout the Zone(s). The Equipment Operator I will also be required to perform general vehicle and equipment checks, wash down vehicle exteriors, maintain work areas, and perform other duties as assigned. This position will regularly require travel around the province. Ideal candidates will always demonstrate professional courtesy and excellent customer service, as well as exhibit good decision-making skills and take initiative as needed.

- moves, lifts, or carries equipment ranging from 10 to 50 pounds
- position is rated heavy to very heavy
- operates a large vehicle (ambulance sized) through city streets and competently maneuvers the vehicle in reverse, solely dependent on mirror use
- Wearing appropriate PPE as needed when washing vehicle exteriors and working in a garage environment
Job Qualifications:- Possession of a valid Class 4 Driver's License as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Valid WHIMS Certification
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overnight travel when required
- Basic vehicle maintenance ability;
- Proficient with computer usage and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc…)
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Critical and sound decision making skills;
- Must possess and demonstrate good interpersonal;
- Has the ability to work alone with minimal supervision;
- Exercise a significant degree of discretion and independent judgment;
- A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required;
- A satisfactory Driver’s Abstract from Motor Vehicle Registration is required;
- A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority;
- Consistent demonstration of NL Health Service's core values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence (ICARE)
Preferred qualifications:- Completion of high school preferred, equivalent work experience may be considered;
- Valid First Aid including CPR certification from an authorized organization.
- Experience in vehicle detailing is considered an asset;
