JRoss Construction is a full service civil site development contractor. Our primary divisions are Asphalt Construction, Concrete Construction and Landscape Construction. At our peak season we employee 60 staff members. Our base is just west of Winnipeg in Headingley’s South Industrial Park. Started in 2007 JRC has growth rapidly over the last 5-7 years. About the Role

We are seeking an experienced candidates for Engineering and Contract Administration. This person should have a strong background in construction management and civil engineering. A critical task associated with this position is field layout and project design. The candidate should have a strong knowledge in these 2 areas. This position is hybrid office and field. The candidate should be prepared for a variety of task.

Project Design

• Create cad, xml and csv files for use in construction projects
• Analyze consultant drawings and cad files for anomaly's and errors - Liaison and adjust for corrections as required
• Civil Construction on private projects requires internal contractor engineering/design to facilitate efficiencies and top quality final product

Survey

• Operate GPS, total station and laser level equipment
• Train Operators/Supervisors in daily use of machine control- Ex: Set up rover/base stations, transit hubs or laser benchmarks, String line guidance etc
• Survey and layout for all types of projects from sports fields and playgrounds to commercial parking lots and roadways - office file set up and field assistance as required
• Field Adjustments – design and calculations
• Quantity Capture – Ex: Cubic meters of excavation

Field Management

• Project Scheduling and Sequencing
• Technical Support – Drawings to Dirt – ensure the project intent is being executed properly
• Client/Contract Administrator Liaison – Attend project meeting with consultants or owners, document changes or requests, represent JRC’s interests on site and provide technical input
• Supervision of Project Schedule and Budget – Data capture and comparisons with reporting to PM/Sales

Crew Instruction

Oversee superintendent and foreman positions to ensure productivity and quality measurable are delivered.

Training

A key task for the success of any construction company is the development of team members. In this regard the candidate should be prepared to educate staff members on all aspects of process and procedures.

Desired Assets

• CET, EIT, P.Eng
• Experience with Civil Construction (as described above this is a hybrid role with project management nuance) - Road building and land development experience will be integral in JRC's Growth
• Experience with AutoCad, Magnet office, 3D Machine control
• Experience with any or all divisions we operate in - landscape, asphalt, concrete
• Experience with Field layout
• Experience with Gantt charts, utility locate requests and other project submittals
