Free Play for Kids is hiring enthusiastic Support Coaches for our Free to Play program starting late August 2025 for the 2025–2026 school year. Support Coaches will spend most of their time working directly with kids (ages 8–12) in our after-school program, while also participating in the Sport to Life course each week to build their own leadership and life skills. This role is a great opportunity for aspiring coaches who want hands-on experience while developing personally and professionally.
Education & Qualifications- Working towards or completing a degree or diploma in Physical Education, Sport and Recreation, Kinesiology, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent
- Experience coaching or leading youth sports teams and/or extensive playing experience
- Interest in youth development, mentorship, and personal growth
- Standard First Aid Certification and CPR training, or the ability to obtain quickly
- Clear, up-to-date Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle (required)
- Valid coaching certifications are an asset
Key ResponsibilitiesFree to Play Program- Support Head Coaches in delivering after-school sport programming for kids aged 8–12
- Help run practices, games, and activities that emphasize fun, safety, and skill development
- Build positive relationships with youth and act as a role model
- Represent Free Play’s values and the communities we serve
Sport to Life Course (1 session/week)- Actively participate in weekly Sport to Life sessions
- Learn leadership, teamwork, and life skills alongside other coaches
- Apply lessons from the course to your role as a coach and mentor
Other Tasks- Maintain consistent communication with team members and Program Managers
- Participate in training, curriculum meetings, and professional development
- Support special events, projects, and program initiatives as required
- Adhere to organizational policies, including uniform standards
