Voyago is hiring a General Manager to oversee our Transit Division in the Greater Toronto Area, Central Ontario and Durham Region. This is an immediate opening for a new full time role.
Your RoleReporting directly to the Vice President, Transit, the General Manager, Transit is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and growth of the Transit division in the Greater Toronto Area. This role provides strategic direction while overseeing daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality transit services that meet contractual requirements and organizational goals.
The General Manager will drive operational excellence, financial performance, and customer satisfaction while fostering strong relationships with municipal partners, employees, and community stakeholders. This leader will champion a culture focused on safety, continuous improvement, and employee engagement while supporting business development and long-term sustainability of transit services
Primary ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Business Performance- Translate organizational vision and strategic priorities into operational plans, measurable objectives, and performance goals
- Lead initiatives that support growth, service excellence, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability
- Identify opportunities for service improvements, cost efficiencies, and innovation within transit operations
- Monitor divisional financial performance, budgets, and revenue opportunities to ensure profitability and responsible fiscal management
- Apply a forward-looking approach to identify risks and opportunities and initiate improvements proactively
Operations Management- Oversee daily transit operations including dispatch, routing, scheduling, and fleet utilization to ensure efficient service delivery
- Ensure all contractual service requirements, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and regulatory standards are consistently achieved
- Lead operational planning including service changes, policy updates, and contract start-ups or expansions
- Monitor vehicle utilization and operational performance to minimize inefficiencies and improve service reliability
- Work closely with the Health & Safety team to investigate incidents, improve safety practices, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Review operational performance metrics and implement strategies to continuously improve service without interruption
Leadership & Team Development- Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to managers, supervisors, and operational staff
- Foster a positive and engaged work environment that supports collaboration, accountability, and employee development
- Support workforce planning by partnering with Talent Acquisition to attract, hire, and retain qualified team members
- Lead performance management processes including goal setting, performance reviews, and professional development planning
- Promote a strong safety culture through leadership, communication, and regular safety meetings
Customer & Community Relations- Serve as a key contact for municipal partners and major stakeholders regarding operational performance and service delivery
- Build strong customer relationships through proactive communication and engagement
- Participate in community initiatives and events to strengthen Transdev's presence and reputation within the region
- Support business development efforts including new contract opportunities, proposals, and service expansions
Administration & Compliance- Ensure accurate reporting of operational data, KPIs, financial performance, and compliance metrics
- Oversee payroll administration, budgeting, and cost control within the division
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure integrity of operational, financial, and customer records
- Prepare and present operational reports and performance summaries for senior leadership and client partners
RequirementsYour profile- You posses a University degree, college diploma, or equivalent experience
- You have minimum 5 years of leadership experience in an operations or transportation environment
- Your experience in transit or transportation operations considered a strong asset
- You bring demonstrated experience managing budgets, financial performance, and operational KPIs
- You posses strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- You bring excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities
- You can demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in a fast-paced operational environment
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and operational systems
- You must be able to travel within Central Ontario, the entire GTA and surrounding areas, including North and East of Toronto
- You have a minimum valid Ontario G Class Driver's Licence
- You have a Clean Driver's Abstract
