As an experienced Subrogation Specialist, you understand how important the subrogation process is to an insurance provider's reputation, profitability, and stability. Your success in this role comes from your solid home insurance claims and subrogation experience, as well as your superior analytical and decision-making skills. You are both detail-oriented and organised, handling multiple files and tasks with ease. And you take pride in your work and in assisting others.
You work closely with independent adjusters, examiners, field adjusters and desk adjusters in your efforts to identify and pursue subrogation opportunities against third-party negligence in property losses to ensure no recovery opportunities are missed.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESWorking in Square One's claims department as the team’s Subrogation Specialist, you have many important responsibilities, including:
- Collaborating with adjusters and examiners to identify and pursue subrogation opportunities.
- Investigating losses for prompt and equitable recoveries as per our claims handling guidelines.
- Analyzing claim details by collecting reports and statements from customers, witnesses, and other relevant experts to assess liability, and recovery opportunities.
- Negotiating with third parties, legal representatives, and insurers to settle claims effectively.
- Maintaining productive relationships with vendors such as forensic engineers, investigators, lawyers and other speciality vendors.
- Coordinating the collection and preservation of physical evidence to prevent legal spoliation.
- Attending court proceedings or hearings as needed.
- Delivering an exceptional customer experience to external and internal clients.
- Responding to inquiries regarding subrogation investigations from both internal and external parties.
- Prioritizing the recovery and return of the policyholder's deductible to maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Maintaining your training and industry knowledge.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONYour experience and education, combined with product and claims training we provide, helps ensure your success at Square One. For this role, you have:
- At least 5 years of property home insurance subrogation experience.
- At least 1 year of tenure with a recent employer.
- A high school diploma and, preferably, some post-secondary education.
- A CIP designation or working towards a designation.
- An adjusting license in your home province (or probationary license in Ontario) or the ability to obtain one.

- A base salary starting at $74,000 to $94,000, depending on experience.
- 3-weeks, not 2-weeks, of vacation to start and an additional week after only 3 years.
