We are looking for a Senior IT Project Manager for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
This position is 100% onsite in downtown Calgary. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.
Role DescriptionThe Senior IT Project Manager will provide leadership in coordinating IT dependencies and deliverables, driving collaboration between IT and business units, and ensuring project milestones are met on time, on budget and within scope. This role requires a proactive, solution-oriented approach, with the ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions that advance the Company digital transformation agenda.
Responsibilities- Lead collaboration efforts between IT and senior business leaders within the Company. Foster strong relationships across the organization to ensure seamless execution of digital initiatives.
- Shape and refine the project roadmap by aligning it with the broader Company and IT technical strategies. Identify and mitigate potential risks to ensure project success.
- Act as the single point of accountability for IT-related activities. Coordinate efforts across multiple IT teams, driving urgency in execution and removing obstacles to keep projects on track.
- Understand the business objectives of the Company and translate these into clear, actionable work packages for IT teams. Ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and sustainable within the technology infrastructure.
- Develop and sustain a fast-paced R&D and innovation collaboration between business and IT, fostering a forward-thinking, results-oriented environment.
- Balance the competing needs of the Company and other IT projects, ensuring the effective allocation of resources while maintaining alignment with business priorities.
- Monitor program KPIs and provide regular updates to leadership. Use data-driven insights to inform decisions and ensure the program stays aligned with key success metrics.
Required Skills and Experience- Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 12 to 15 years in IT, with substantial experience in leadership roles managing large-scale digital transformation projects, including direct experience with technology implementations.
- Proven track record of leading multi-year, high-budget projects from inception through to successful completion.
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Strong understanding of digital technologies, enterprise systems, and IT infrastructure.
- Previous experience with ERP systems, cloud technologies, and data governance initiatives is required.
- PMP certification is an asset. Additional certifications in Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum) or IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) are highly advantageous.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated experience in aligning project deliverables with broader organizational strategies, ensuring that digital initiatives are fully integrated into the company’s long-term goals.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficient in delivering executive-level presentations and reports.
- Adept at developing strategic visions, roadmaps, and detailed execution plans, with the ability to pivot and adapt as required by evolving business needs.
- A creative thinker who is comfortable navigating ambiguity. Focused on driving progress through innovative solutions and a collaborative mindset.
- Strong capability to bridge the gap between business goals and technical execution, ensuring mutual understanding and alignment across all project teams.
