Instructor, PTEC (Community Practicum)
The School of Health and Human Services invites applications for a part-time instructor in the Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program. This program is CCAPP accredited.
The successful candidate must be a registered pharmacy technician or pharmacist in the province of BC, currently practicing in a community pharmacy environment. Under the direction and supervision of the School Chair, the successful applicant will teach PTEC 230: Community Pharmacy Practicum.

Main Duties and Responsibilities- Provide instruction and support to Pharmacy Technician students remotely during their practicum experience
- Evaluate students in the online course environment
- Communicate regularly with practicum preceptors
- Arrange practicum placements in collaboration with practice sites
- Develop and maintain curriculum
- Effectively collaborate with the school chair, program coordinator and with program colleagues
- Actively contribute to the college, school and program
- Maintain positive relationships with the school chair, program colleagues, other members of the College, and members of our communities as a whole
- Will also meet the major accountabilities as documented in the college instructor job description
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities- Demonstrated ability to teach and evaluate students
- Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
- Ability to contribute to School and/or College initiatives and a commitment to continuous learning
- Experience working to full scope of practice as a pharmacy technician in community pharmacy practice, or if candidate is a pharmacist, experience working with pharmacy technicians who work to full scope or practice
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
Education and Experience- A Pharmacy Technician certificate or diploma from a CCAPP accredited program and currently registered as a Pharmacy Technician in British Columbia, or a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or Pharm D. and currently registered as a Pharmacist in British Columbia.
- Currently employed and practicing in a community pharmacy environment.
- Preference will be given to candidates with current experience teaching in the Pharmacy Technician program at one of Selkirk College’s partner sites.
This is a non-regular, part-time (17%) position, commencing August 1, 2026, and ending July 31, 2027. Salary and Benefits are in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2,763.30 - $4,428.06 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.
